It's been a tough week! What started out as moderate discomfort and occasional pain last weekend escalated into non-stop pain from Wed until Friday when I went back to out-patients. It was a crazy night so I had a horendously long wait. But when the doctor finally saw me, he found that the original cast was too tight and had to be replaced; if I had ignored it, I could have lost my foot! Egad!
.
It took 1/2 an hour to remove the fiberglass cast -- very uncomfortable! Then the dr had to re-set my foot (OMG -- the pain!); and he put a plaster cast on it. Here's my new bed buddy:.
This new dr also gave me information that should have been given me last weekend AND wonderful, wonderful drugs! The pain is fairly acute at times, but it's localized to the fracture site: and Tylenol 3 does the trick at night-time so I can sleep..
My wonderful friend, Laura, not only took me to the hospital and brought me a sub for supper before she scooted off to get groceries, she also stayed with me throughout the whole ordeal -- telling me funny stories during the wait and holding my hand and praying and singing to me while I had my foot reset and the new cast put on.
She is wonderful!
In the meantime, I'm totally bored! It's difficult to sit at the computer for longer than 15 min at a time; so today's entry will not be entertaining. But when I do get to sit and read your posts, I feel better. Well, except for the times I cry with jealousy! But that doesn't last long.
.
So, while you're all decorating for American Thanksgiving and/or Christmas or going out for dinner or thrifting, I'm home with my foot elevated trying to study for my exam Tuesday night (in between looking for remedies for bed sores and visualizing my bones healing.)
.
As soon as I feel a little better and am slightly more mobile, I will be be-dazzling my new plaster stocking. A girl's gotta be stylin', right!

You poor thing! It totally sucks when you can't walk. At least you can take the pain pills. Be thankful for that. I had 2 cancer surgeries this year & could only take ibuprofen after cause I am allergic to the pain meds out there. Will be sending positive healing thoughts your way. And with the cast too tight & not proper info given earlier, what a time you have had! Keep your spirits up.

Wow - it's lucky that you went back! I hope you're back in action soooooon!
Oh no! That is awful and scary. I am so glad you got a new cast and good drugs! Rest and take care of yourself!
Friends like Laura are worth their weight in gold, aren't they? Hope your foot heals with a minimum of pain and discomfort now.
Sorry to hear about your set back!! Happy healing to you.
Oh you dear girl... I am just so glad you went back to the doctor! Praise God!!! So sorry it had to be re-set but I know you are glad you did the right thing. I will whisper a prayer up for you again right now for a speedy and full recovery.
Well, I'm glad you got it taken care of! Mercy!
I think you should do the cast up all holidayish and stuff! Do take pictures!
Hope you heal up fast! Nice to know you have such a wonderful friend, isn't it?
I am so glad you went back. Apparently Dr #1 did not account for swelling and slight edema! You are lucky, really, that the pain forced you back-otherwise it could have been much worse. So, pain, in some cases, is a good thing!
I hope you can study and get some rest and then pop off an on the computer to keep yourself smiling! Hug-Diana
What a blessing you went back and had it checked out. Now hopefully you'll be on the mend and it won't be long before you are feeling much better. Rest while you can because you know that once you are on your feet life will be busier than ever.Take good care and look on the bright side.
It's a good thing you went back.. Enjoy the drugs...they will help make it all tolerable. And I'm glad you have a wonderful friend to look after you! Feel better soon!
I've heard that protein is good for healing, so hope you're having some. Good Luck on your test. Feel better soon!
It seems to me that both you and the doctor acted rather hastily.
Several years ago I broke my leg.
First of all, I applied ice packs for two days,to immediately prevent inflammation, and only then I went to the doctor who prescribed me rest . There was no need for a cast ( perhaps the fracture was small, I don't recall this detail).
Your doctor probably put the first cast on an an inflammed leg. I can imagine the hell you went through.
Wish you quick recovery!
I love that tip sock!
I broke my ankle a few years ago. It was miserable. I'm glad you have somebody there for you! :)
Bless your heart sweetie! When it rains it pours! I'm so glad ya had a good friend there to hold your hand and help ya through the cast ordeal. Can't wait to see the stylin' stockin'. Yep, ya might as well make lemonade.
Take care and have a blessed pain'free week! :o)
Ohhhh, you poor girl! That is a persons worst fear. Having to have an injury re-set is a nightmare. What a lovely friend you have to give you such support! I hope this cast works out for you. When it's off I have a great Osteopath on Jubilee that would do wonders with your foot. Take care of yourself! :)
Oh my gosh, what an ordeal! Glad to hear you now have the right sized cast...and good drugs will likely help too!
Oh my what a tale!!! Glad it all worked out.
I think you should decorate that little baby with some good old fashioned "bling". (O:(O:
