Thrifty Thursday - September 19, 2013

There were lots of fun thrifting trips this summer.  There were local thrifting trips, trips to Halifax and a great Salvation Army thrifting trip home in Newfoundland.

Yes, there have been many thrifting excursions this summer.  But the best bargains in regards to money saved were the following 2 purchases.  And yes, they were items that were on my Janis Joplin thrifting-wish-list.  You know:

"Oh Lord, won't you buy me ..."

A Lug crossbody purse for $7.99 + tax at Value Village --- retails locally for roughly $65.  These bags have a lifetime guarantee, no questions asked.  If anything goes wrong, you can take it to any store that sells Lug bags and they will replace it.   Mine had a rip in the small bottom zipper pouch; but I liked the color and size so much, that I simply repaired it.

A Pouchee for $2 at my local, Daisy store --- retails locally for $35.99 + tax.  You fill it with your cards, money, phone, etc; and it can simply be transferred from purse to purse without all the hassle of rearranging everything again.  The reason this one was so cheap was because it was badly soiled inside; I threw it in the washing machine with some Oxy (for $2, I took the chance) and
Voila!  C'est magnifique!

Happy Thrifting everyone!  Tell me what you've thrifted lately.

What marvelous finds. LOVE them both. When I was thrifting I got a leather coat for $4.95.

Wow. Those are great finds. I like those Pouchee things - a great invention. I haven't been thrifting at all so nothing to brag about. :( You always find such great deals!

Value Village is great heh! I scored a Nova Scotia artist piece a little while ago worth in the four digits. My heart just about stopped! Someone just didn't know the value of it...signed boldly I might add. Maybe cleaning out an estate? Anyway, I love that place!

Your finds are great. I always check out the purses too!

Oh, those are great finds! Score! I am a major thrifted, mostly of clothing, jewelry and shoes, when I can find them. My best score is an Andre Courreges vintage 80s cashmere/wool skirt for under $10.00. It would have been several hundred dollars in the 80s!

Hi Sandy, these are great finds. It amazes me what can go through the washing machine. I never try in until I am desperate, but I have had so many things go through the wash and come out fine . . . from leather purses to leather shoes . . . just don't put them in the drier, LOL
I came over to thank you for following my blog and to visit your blog. I love blogging and sharing ideas, but most of all I enough meeting new people and making new friends, and I make it a habit to follow those that choose to follow me. I am delighted to meet you and I'm excited about this new blogging friendship.
I love junking, too. It is funny because I have this sister-in-law that never junks and only purchases at the best stores. She comes to my house and is always saying things like, "I love that where did you buy it" . . . Nine times out of Ten, I answer back a yard sale or the thrift store :) I think it secretly drives her a little bit crazy. On my last trip to the thrift store I found a perfect Lands End top for $3.99 and came home and found it still being sold in their catalog for $65.00. We have relatives that think we make more money than we do, just because of junking. I do not believe in wasting money. I purchase new only when the item is something that I can not come up with thrifting, and then I search for the best price. I think that we may have these things in common.
Have a glorious day.
Thank you again for following my blog. I am delighted to meet you.
Your new blogging sister, Connie :)
