DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA! aaaaah ... I MEAN COLOMBIA!

Yesterday I said goodbye to my little Colombian daughter. Seeing her off was a bittersweet experience.

We had such a wonderful time together. We had gotten to the point of really acting like mother and daughter; we were comfortable and secure in our relationship and our feelings for each other and yet could still drive each other crazy. Every night before bedtime, we'd have a cuddle just to connect. But she could also collapse on my back when I was in the middle of doing something and ignore me with laughter when I told her to get off; and I could tell her to "Go away and leave me alone!" or "Just to be quiet!". We knew that we loved each other.
I cried when she got on the plane -- I'll miss her a lot.

ON THE OTHER HAND --

Now there's only my soon-to-be 17 yr old daughter and I at home, and she's either working or being social. So, I'm pretty well a free agent! No rushing home from work to prepare a meal; no worrying if anyone is bored. Just me and the garden and my stack of reading material and 2 months ahead of me filled with the expectation of sunshine and relaxation.

Happy Summer everyone!
