I saw this movie last night and I would highly recommend it. Meryl Streep does a fantastic job of being Julia Child (for those of you who remember watching any of her TV shows). And I believe, it very true to who she was.
A couple of years ago, I found the autobiography of Julia Child at my favorite Frenchies store. I've always loved to cook, and I remembered seeing Julia on PBS many times and was, of course, fascinated not only by her cooking but also by her quirky ways and her funny voice. So, I snapped it up for $1.85 and read it.
I fell in love with Julia Child! She had an amazing life, was mad about her husband and was, in my opinion, a liberated woman far ahead of her time. Such energy and spunk and "joie de vivre"! And the fact that she only came into her own when she turned 50!
This was a really fun movie with lots of laughs. Go see it!

I have been reading good things about this movie and heaven knows we can all use a good hearty belly laugh. Good to see the demons fled your computer. Laugh the day away.
Thanks for the review...may have to see this one.
Meryl Streep is a great actress and Julia Child a great character, so the result is naturally a great movie.
You are 2nd blogger to reccommend this movie today. I guess it's one I'll need to see for sure. Someone said there is a book out so I'll need to look for that too.
Thanks for your opinion Sandy...I mostly wait for movies to be on direct tv, but maybe My daughter and I should go see this one!
I was going to see it on Friday with a friend ... but she has bailed on me :(
I may go see it anyway.
I can't wait til this comes over here so I can see this! I love, Love, LOVED Julia Child!
Doris, I am going to go see it, but haven't yet. So, I'll have to let you know what I think once I go see it.
I did HATE the book. I couldn't believe that Julie was able to develop a following. Our bookclub read it and I dutifully read every bit of it, but despised it in the process. I read a review that Amy Adams is whiny and self-centered. Sounds like Nora Ephron nailed the Julie I met in her book.
I grew up watching Julia Childs. I was very young in the 60's...but remember the frivolity (sp?) of her show.
will let you know what I think of the movie,
