You know that old song: "The first sip is the hardest"? Well it's true; it was scary. But just because I'm scared doesn't mean I won't try something new. So, I went for it
......
and it was amazingly good! So, I drank it all. And I'll do it again; perhaps even regularly. I went online to research why green smoothies are supposed to be so good for you, and here (in the proverbial nutshell) is what I found:
- They are extremely healthy and easy to digest: the nutrients in these fruits and veggies become homogenized making it easy for the body to assimilate them.
- As opposed to juices, they are a complete food because they still have fiber.
- They belong to the most palatable dishes for all humans of all ages. With a ratio of fruits to veggies as 60:40 the fruit taste dominates the flavor, yet at the same time the green vegetables balance out the sweetness of the fruit, adding nice zest to it.
- It's an easy and tasty way to ensure you consume enouth green vegetables every day. Also, they help form the good habit of eating more greens.
- They're easy to make and quick to clean up after; much easier than juicing.
- They're supposed to reduce cravings for sugar and other processed foods that are not good for you.
- They help improve elimination.
- They can help you lose weight.
- They're good for your overall beauty: beautiful skin, bright eyes and shiny hair are some of the benefits of increasing your intake of green vegetables.
- You will experience overall improved health, increased energy and clear thinking.
.
Wow! I know that greens are good for me.
But the only sure thing I can attest to at this point is that this green smoothie tasted really good; and I plan on making them part of my diet.
.................. But if I end up looking like this ...
you'll all be some of the first to know!
.
Anybody out there have experience with green smoothies?

That is a pretty green color!
It sounds good. I watched something on Netflix about Superfoods and it was fascinating.
I'm pretty sure you already look like bikini clad babe!
If I thought it would help me look like that, I'd drink it too! LOL
Oh baby, I can't get to my blender fast enough, I need a green smoothie baaaad! Heeehehehe!
Ya'll think I can look like that before my Tx trip???? :o)
God bless and enjoy your new~found fountain of youth!!!
GENIUS!!
We are both Genius! LOL
Great minds for sure!
Too funny. ;-)
Sandy, I love green smoothies. And, I assure you I do not look like that last picture. I have given up hoping.
Maybe if you added some Tequila...
I once made a smoothie with cucumber, watermelon, green apple and........kelp powder. As soon as I added this last ingredient it went from beautiful green to horrible greeny brown sludge and tasted as bad as it looked. I held my nose and drank it down, repeating over and over in my head that it was doing me good.
I lasted a week and haven't touched a smoothie since.
No, but I'd try it if I could look like your picture at the end of the post!! Ha! I don't even own a blender or whatever to make one in. I need to get with the program.
I'm inspired. Now I know what to do with all that freaking spinach I often have leftover and never quite know what to do with it.
Are you channelling Martha Stewart? I just read her blog and she was making green smoothies!!!
Just don't know if I can do green first thing in the morning - maybe as an afternoon pick-me-up.
My husband used to juice with veggies and fruit quite a bit, and it tasted great. I have not tried one with spinach before. It would be fun to try. But do I eat raw spinach in salad several times a week. (Who wants to mess with iceburg lettuce in a salad when they can have spinach instead! That's how I feel.... so many vitamins in spinach and almost nothing in lettuce.)
I just wish I looked half as good as the bikini babe.
