Goodnight Little Garden

.
This was the view out of my window yesterday when I awoke. Sunshine was streaming from the sky and the colors were gorgeous. A perfect day to put my garden to bed for the winter. .
I put all the garden furniture and gnomes and butterflies etc etc etc in the shed until not another thing could be tucked in there.

.
Then I raked and raked and raked until my arms were ready to give way. Most of the leaves get piled in a hollow in my side garden to go back to the earth. Look at how bare my little garden is now!My garden swing has, unfortunately, seen too many seasons and the fabric on the seat is almost rotten; I didn't trust it this summer to sit on it. Sad to see my lovely swing go:(
.

I did bag some leaves. And I moved the autumn flowers to the front so I could enjoy them for what little time is left. And now that the leaves are cleared away, I can also enjoy the Chinese lantern and Turtlehead that are in bloom.

.
The weather today is nasty with heavy rains, high winds and temperatures around 7 deg Cel. However, many places in the Atlantic Provinces are experiencing snow. So, we seem to be let off easily.

.

Today will be a home day: children plugged into their various electronic devices, me with my feet up enjoying digital TV, strawberry/rhubarb pie and roast chicken in the oven.

.

Winter is on it's way, bloggies!

It sounds like a great day at your house even though it's nasty outside it's warm and cozy inside. We'll have lots of those kinds of days coming I'm afraid. Enjoy your Sunday!

YAY! for getting ahead of the autumn clean up... something the HHL household will be tackling this week (weather cooperating)... living in the country the transition from summer to autumn to winter, do not seem to happen gradually as in the city... it's like over night/or you wake up to one and go to bed with the other... Happy Sunday, what time did you say dinner was??? ;) xo HHL

putting away all the garden tools, decorations, cleaning out flower beds,
putting away for winter
is almost like tucking a child into bed at night.
with a kiss
on the anticipation, that it'll all be back out once spring arrives.

I'm not worried about your swing. You'll have a great time finding a new one on some obscure sale somewhere.
Your weather sounds pretty awful. We could use some rain but we'll probably get snow.

How sad to winterize. But you got the job done in record time. Just think, spring is right around the corner. But first we have to get through that long, cold winter that's on the way.

Sounds like it's a good day at your house! Your meal sounds delish.
We got 8 inches of snow here where I live in PA. The trees weren't even in full color for Autumn yet but luckily our garden was all prepared for winter and all tools and flower pots were put away before the snow.

Thanks for visiting my blog : )

Dang, I think it's already planted it ugly head here in the Ozarks.

I've got the fire roarin' in the fireplace and any trees that support leaves are ugly brown.

Hey, don't give up girl...maybe Santa will bring ya a brand new swing for Christmas and you'll be swingin' soon!

God bless and have a boooootiful day sweetie!!! :o)

I liked seeing your tidied fall garden. I keep mine messy until spring because I like how the seed pods poke out of the snow. Your dinner sounds so yummy - I love that pie. Have a slice for me, won't you?

I think you got everything done at the right time, Sandy. Once the weather changes and gets colder, that's it! I'm promising myself a day {soon} to maybe hang out in my pajamas and do nothing.
