FOOD FOR THOUGHT FRIDAY

*
“'When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,' said Piglet at last, 'what's the first thing you say to yourself?'

'What's for breakfast?' said Pooh. 'What do you say, Piglet?'

'I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?' said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully. 'It's the same thing,' he said.”
A. A. Milne, The House at Pooh Corner

This was my breakfast this morning: half a bagel with cream cheese & raspberry jam; plain yogurt & chopped banana; and tea.
*
Does the fact that I was joyously contemplating it while I was showering and drying my hair AND the fact that I ate it thankfully and gleefully mean that I was excited about it? Does the fact that I used one of my favorite china mugs and the pretty Granny Smith apple plate make the meal exciting? Does any of that put me in a category with Pooh and his philosophy of eager anticipation of what every day has to bring?

*
(See that additional topping on the yogurt? It's chopped dates, almonds & brown sugar leftover from last night's baked apples. Doesn't that make it even more exciting?)
*
*
Or does it simply mean I'm past it? I'm old and have no more to look forward to in life than whether to have bran this morning or go all out with multi-grain toast and the almond butter I've stashed at the back of the fridge?

Your breakfast looks good, cream cheese and jelly is always a good combo, sort of a comfort food for me.

I love Pooh and Piglet's conversation, makes sense to me!

That Pooh and Piglet say some of the most marvelous things. I love my breakfast each morning and look forward to it. On the way to work I always stop at the drive thru and get my breakfast sandwich. It's not as healthy as your breakfast but I still enjoy it none the less. When I'm home I do eat a little better and still enjoy it. I think it's a great way to start the day and some say the most important meal of the day too! Happy Friday!

Well considering that I was dreaming about my breakfast last night( a nice bowl of honey cheerios and a banana), I would say it's just that you are able to appreciate the little pleasures in life.:) Hope you have a great weekend.

To me this says that you enjoy simple pleasures and I would love being your neighbor.
You are relaxed and joyous.

Each day is a gift and each day is filled with magic, we just have to recognize it.

As we grow older we learn to see the small things in life and appreciate them. When we are young we only see the BIG things not the sun ray on the floor or the first crocus of the Spring.

What is your favorite tea? I used to drink a cup of Earl Grey each morning until a British friend turned me on to PG Tips. Lovely!

P.S. I'm with Pooh!

Any positive thought in the morning is a great way to start the day - no matter what your age! If it involves eating - all the better.

You know, I really should read Winnie the Pooh. I can't believe I never have. I just love that quote. (Though maybe it's a problem I view food as excitement, LOL!) And, yay!, Canadians understand tea--looks like you have milk in. Thanks to my English ex- mil and ex-step mil, that's the only way I drink tea, and Americans just don't get it!

I think a breakfast that yummy and beautifully laid out "is" exciting! So I think both Pooh and Piglet would have been pleased!

Thank you for stopping by my blog!

Oh I love that quote so cute! I have to confess my breakfast usually consists on weekdays of grabbing a skinny latte on the way to the office. I have the chouce ten mins more in bed or food and I choose sleep!
