IT'S REDNESDAY!

*
This is my cell phone and it's red cover. This year when my contract is through, I don't think I'll bother to renew. I have a love/hate relationship with cell phones. I hate the intrusion of them and yet love the convenience. But I don't even use the $40 a month that it costs me; I get calls from my kids and my electrician boss and that's about it. So, I think I'll try to keep a cell phone but just do the pay-as-you-go phone card type thingie.
*
How about you guys? How do you feel about your cell phones? Any of you have experience to pass on about pay-as-you-go?

My next red item is something that's easy to love.
I bought this beautiful leather covered jewellery box at Value Village probably about 8 years ago. But when my daughter Amy saw it, she fell in love with it too. So, I gave it to her. Now that she's left home, she's taken her jewellery but not the box.

Remember that old quote from the 1960's "If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was." Well, I guess it's mine again. (And I'm hiding it better this time!)
*
I use it for my bling jewellery -- the stuff I don't use often but refuse to give it up.
(There's another layer of wonderful bling under the white batting.)
*
I call a lot of this my "memory" jewellery. Because I don't wear the pieces often, looking at them sometimes brings back great memories of when I did wear it. The blue rhinestone broach and screw-on earrings remind me of my 1985 office Xmas party with Larry when I worked for Mobil Oil. The faux pearl choker reminds me of the antique show where Larry bought it for me. The heart-shaped rhinestone pendant that my Mom passed on to me brings back memories of being a child and her sorting her jewellery box; I loved looking at the few glittery baubles she owned (and dreamed someday of having my own). And I was also somewhat in awe of this other glamorous mother who went to parties and wore satin dresses and earrings.

Do you have memory jewellery? Please share a story with us.

Red is one of my favorite colors and I think it gives us a good feeling when we wear it too. I do use my cell phone and have dropped my home land line as they call it and now use just the cell. I couldn't see having both as neither of them get much use, but I do like the security of having that cell phone with me just in case. So when trying to budget my money the home phone went... I do have memory jewelry and wear one of the items every day. Years ago my Mom decided every girl needed a gold chain to wear and she bought one for herself and for me and each of my sisters. Now that she is gone it is wonderful to have this memory with me all the time. I never take it off. Hope your Wednesday is a great one!

I have a pocket watch my grandmother gave me when I was 12. It is 125 years old. The crystal is missing; one of the hands is missing; I still can't bring myself to part with it.

I brought my Mother's jewelry box home with me after she passed, such nice memories... Her birthday was in December and friends often gave her one of those Christmas pins or earrings as a gift, She had enough for me to wear a new different one, every day during the holiday season, and I do. Nice memories.

I had the same love/hate relationship with my cell phone until I got an Iphone a couple years ago. I LOVE IT!
It is not only a phone but I can BLOG on it - yep that's right. I am typing this comment on it and sending it to you.
I have the internet at my fingertips whereever I am and that is worth the price of admission right there!
I am actually not a phone person - I hate talking on the phone. If my Iphone had no phone I would still love it -ha ha.
It also does a 100+ other things. Worth looking into for sure.
(man they should pay me for these endorsements - ha ha).

Those are beautiful red things! Love it.
I don't love my cell phone either. What I hate though is watching parents with their children (little children) totally ignoring them while they yak on their phones. I hate that!!!

I have a Virgin cell phone that I pay $16 every three months for. Only a couple people have the number, so it's just basically used if it's important. I'm really not one of those types that needs a phone at all times. Call me at home, and I'll get back to ya. I don't need to be on the phone yakking while I'm in line at the store. Can you tell that I actually hate cell phones? People can be very rude while using them!
Love your red jewelry box! And yes, pretty much every bit I own has a memory attached to it. That's probably why I have such a hard time getting rid of things!
Happy REDnesday!

Awesome post. I love red!
My cell phone is also sucking more cash than it's worth. I've never tried pay-as-you-go, but I should. I like the security of having a cell phone when I'm driving down the highway, but the monthly cost is like money down the toilet.
Memory jewellery! I have a few of my mom's things. She is the ultimate hoarder and has about 8 boxes of stuff she never wears and it occasionally comes out and gets redistributed amongst her daughters.

Love the red, I have a lot of red in my closet, I think it just makes me pop! My most treasured jewelry is a necklace and bracelet given to me by my maternal grandfather who died at the age of 45 when I was only ten months old. You can see it on me in the picture of the Money!Money!Money post. It resides in my jewelry box today.

It looks like you have many treasured items in yours too.

You have the best day!!!

Oh my goodness...I love my cell phone. Seriously I could not get rid of it. I use texting, we have GPS on my husbands...I no longer pay for long distance calls...it is wonderful. But if you don't use it...I guess you shouldn't pay for it. Ours is expensive...but, can't go back now!

What can be more cheery than a splash of red on a grey, overcast day? As for cell phones, the only thing I warn you about the pay-as- you-go phones is that if you do use your current cell phone a lot(depending on how long your conversations with family are), you may end up paying more for the pay-as-you-go one than you would for just a regular cell phone bill. My husband and I found that out the while he was away. I love all the bling you have in wonderful little case and it reminds me of how I need to get mine own(bling and case lol)!

I started out with pay as you go cell phones, because I swore I'd never use it but for emergencies.. But THEN no matter what I said or did, I'd get too many calls coming IN!!.. meaning (at least with the company I was with) there went more minutes off what time I had left, even for WRONG NUMBERS and salesmen!!.. I was paying MORE than by contract with a BETTER working phone! That was it for me, and figured a contract and $40 a month was CHEAPER AND more WORTH it! ~tina (Oh, and Happy Rednesday!)

Ah - love the red! But I refuse to get a cell phone, for several reasons! One the cost - we do not NEED another monthly bill, and a high one at that! And I have lived quite successfully without a cell phone for all these years, yes, even traveling cross country, by myself, in an older car! And I am living to tell about it! (I know, kinda being silly!!!) But I am going to put it off for as long as I can! I just think it is becoming one of those "wants", that is turning into a "need" for a lot of people.

Your red jewelcase is fabulous. I avoid my cell phone ha! But when I'm in my car, I'm thankful for my cell and my GPS! ;)

Cheers!

We also gave up on the whole cell phone racket - we got a TracPhone and love it!

I have a stash of kids "jewels" that me daughter would give me as gifts for birthday and Christmas - they're mostly plastic, but they're (memory) keepers!

Gave up the "cell" phone some time ago ... I am home most of the time these days. The days I am not...are the times when I just don't want to be contacted.
Love the red jewellery case...and like you have heaps of memory jewellery, the type I just look at and never wear!

I am the same way about jewelry , I have certain pieces , that can bring back a memory in a moment . It's like a history of your life in costume jewelry .I am switching to a cheaper pay as you go cellphone also. I still have the expensive one right now , I was just making sure the other works out for me . But I have decided to cancel it .
Blessings,
~Myrna

I sometimes think John and I are the only people around who do not have cell phones. I can't imagine why I would want people to reach me all the time.
Red...love, love red. Red eyeglasses, red boots, red coat, red purse.
Jewelry...I got my sister's tin of costume jewelry when she passed away. Every now and then I open it up and smell it...it still smells of her favourite perfume 5 years later.
