Ahhhh! That was lovely!

.
Ahhhhh! Sundays are so relaxing!
.
I love the habit of meeting with other Christians on Sunday mornings -- worshipping and laying all my cares and worries at the feet of Him who is so much better able to carry them than I am.
.
Then it was the perfect afternoon to amble. So, we choose Lunenburg. Up and down the streets past sherbet-colored buildings; in and out of the loveliest shops; looking and touching and sniffing such pretty items..
We treated ourselves to Chai lattes and shared Key Lime and Dark Chocolate cheesecakes, more walking and ... home.

.
Then a lovely rest in the sunshine.

.

Dinner was oven fried chicken, Jasmine rice and fresh baby beets. Isn't harvest season wonderful!

.

The rest of my bag of beets were used to make Newfoundland beet salad. (I don't know if anyone else makes this recipe?) It's a very simple recipe: cubed potatoes, cubed beets, a little chopped green onion and mayo. Mix; chill; gobble down for work and/or school lunch! Enjoy!

The town is charming from your description and I like your beet salad recipe idea. Starting the day with church is ideal, I agree, and that is what I did today.

dessert looks yummy - we ate at the Salt Shaker Deli in Lunenburg this afternoon - I enjoyed the strawberry passionfruit cheesecake and dh had the chocolate mousse - well actually I had some of the mousse too - just to balance the tartness of the cheesecake ;) Glad you had a nice day.

Are those cooked or raw beets? Cooked I imagine.

What a beautiful place you took us to today.

We make coldplates (remember those?) at our bakery and beet salad is included, except we mash our cooked beets first before adding them to the potato instead of having chunks :)
