Causing Peony Envy!

Any gardener who has to go outside the home to earn a living will admit that it's hard to focus on work in the spring when it isn't raining outside. You just want to be working in the garden.
*
I'm busy planning my next phase and anxious to get at it. I'll have to use the pick axe to loosen up the ground (read tree roots and rocks). I'll have to go down into the brook and try to get some of the boulders I see down there up to where I can use them to outline the garden. (They're not holding up the sides of the brook but just sitting in the middle!) I'll also have to spend a small fortune on topsoil and peat moss. And I'll have to beg Brady to bring me another load of Class B gravel for my pathways.
*
And then, of course, there's the cost of the plants to fill this new space! Always expensive, right?
*

N O T ! ! !

*
*
I got a call from an old friend on Saturday. She's taking over the cottage property that her parents lived at for the last 20 yr ..... AND she's not a gardener ..... SO would I like to take all Mum's flowers and shrubs?
*
What do you say to a question like that?
*

YES PLEASE!

and THANK YOU!

*
Mum's garden is full of Hosta, Columbine, Lilies, Sedum, creeping Phlox, climbing roses, Peonies, bulbs and all sorts of other wonderful, mature plants. I'm so excited!
*
How wonderful to have this piece of Mum Brown that she loved so much here in my own back yard. (And as I'll remind her, she can still come visit her plants any time at all!)

*
The race is on! I have 3 weekends to get that garden ready because I'm going down to get the plants the long weekend in May (May 23rd, Victoria Day in Canada)!
*
*
*
*
Wish me luck, bloggies!
And strength!
And good weather!
*
And no sour grapes from those of you who are experiencing Peony Envy because my garden may be bigger than your garden!

You are Doris the Great--You can do it! Flex those biceps and dig! I can't wait to see the pictures of your final masterpiece. It will probably make the Queen of England green with Peony Envy. :)

Peony envy..LOL!

I love your feeling about this wonderful gift. Having a garden (literally) of memories about your friend's mother.

You have a sweet heart, Sandy!

Wow, I have serious peony envy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are one lucky mama!

Good for you. I want pictures when you are done! I want pictures of your dirty hands too! (just as evidence that someone actually has warm enough weather to be playing in the dirt)

How wonderful for you. Now that's twice in the last couple of days I've watched someone get truckloads of flowers from someone who wasn't a gardener. hehehe and she was very fortunate too. I'm really happy for you and can't wait to see pictures of your drop dead gorgeous gardens!
We just happened to be in Victoria once on Victoria Day and as we got off the boat I said "Look Bob they're having a parade for us." And people were bringing chairs from everywhere and the hustle and bustle was so exciting. We did the gardens and a few other things, came back to the waterfront and the Victoria Orchestra (?) started playing. I videoed it and it was sooooooooo wonderful. We've always said we'd go back on that same weekend because we enjoyed it so much and never have. Maybe this year?

Oh no - I am very jealous. Look at you getting all those pretty flowers to fill your empty space. Can't wait to see the beauties in your gardens. Lucky you.

It sounds like a dream come true! I wish someone would offer me a ton of plants! I've got several huge spaces that need filling in, where I pulled up the English ivy that took over everything in it's path. Those bulbs I won from you were a real blessing!

Lucky you! I love when I get plants like that. And I love passing on plants to new gardeneers.
I want to be out in the garden too darn this having to work for a living.
Been a little cool here in Toronto though since the weekend. At least we didn't get snow yesterday like Montreal did!

Buildin' a garden with flowers shared from a friend is just the best. I'm always dividing and sharin' my abundance.

'Cept today. I've been workin' cattle all blessed day. Vaccinating, castration and dehorning. This chick is tired to the bone.

God bless ya and have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Now that! Is a score! Mature, established plants! Congratulations to you!

Any one who say my flowers would run the other way with theirs. Congrats that your gardening inspired someone to want to give you plants and shrubs.
I am experiencing dejas vous here. I could swear I read this yesterday and responded that I had green thumb envy! I am losing it, I guess!

I have a bad case of "garden-envy"! Those are exactly the plants I enjoy. I spent some time yesterday in our flower beds -dividing hosta and sedum....raking leaves in one of the beds, etc. I DO hope you have some good weather to get your task accomplished and find some time to sit back in awe at the beauty!
