Up to this week, Nova Scotia has enjoyed the kind of spring that I remember from my childhood: the kind where it does get gradually warmer, and tulips bloom before May comes. This spring has been stellar! And although we are now experiencing more "seasonal" weather (hovering just above the freezing point at night and crisp during the day), that cannot dampen my spirits. All I need to do is walk through my garden and my heart soars with joy.

It was COLD this morning when I took these pictures. Here's the front bed from my small deck. Things are not only up and beginning to fill in nicely, but there are bulbs that were planted when I put the garden in 3 years ago that I've not seen again before this spring. And if you look closely, you can see the red tulips near the foundation are just waiting to open on our next warm sunny.

The Pulmonaria still continues to delight me.

Here's a cold, shaky picture of one of the little 99 cent rose bushes I bought 2 years ago. They both look really healthy; they'll be pretty ones again this year! (And I have a third waiting to be planted.)
*
And here's a cold shaky picture of my first daffodil to bloom. The rest of the daffs and nasciss are in the same boat at the tulips with their little voices crying "Come sweet sun! Come warm us up and we'll show you our pretty faces!"*
In the lower driveway bed that I put in at the end of last fall, I'm happy to report that my wee little Forsythia bush has survived the winter (despite having copious amounts of snow dumped on it by the snow plow) and is putting out blooms.*
The side garden beds are coming up nicely with all sorts of green things that I can't for the life of me remember what they are! But I do know this [sideways??] picture is an Acconite plant I just put in last summer. It looks like it will be a quick growing little fellow as well; and I'm excited to see what it will look like.*
While driving to work this morning I saw the garden centre at our local Superstore was up! That excited me so much, I began having palpatations right there and then and it was hard to keep the car from automatically veering to the left to go visit! But it's still too early to actually plant anything here. So, I'll content myself this weekend with raking leaves and dragging the brush on the other side of the brook up to begin building my fence there!

Happy weekend everyone!

I know that feeling of your heart soaring with joy. Isn't it great what gardens can do for us?! I'm glad your plants are all doing so well. Hope you get some warm sunny days so your tulips and daffodils can bloom.
I'm looking forward to seeing your place all lit up with blooms. Looks like everything is off to a good start.
Have a good weekend.
I love the pictures! Spring needs to hurry!

Beautiful with the promise of more beauty to come.
Aren't we all just chomping at the bit at this time of year?
You have a bunch of stuff growing! That is awesome....makes me so ready for next month when it looks like this here.
Thanks for sharing- makes my heart happy! Paula in IDaho
After some warm sunny days here we too are cooling down. I might just need my winter coat tomorrow, I had my first tulip bloom yesterday. I'm here at the camp site today and it is threatening rain. There are wild flowers in bloom every where. If the rain doesn't come I'll try and get pictures.
Hi Doris~ thank you so much for your heartfelt comment. I tried to email you but it bounced back. Anyway, Thank you so much...it brought tears to my eyes.
Hugs
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I love making new friends. Love you blog!
Everything is looking lovely and healthy. We had 87 degrees here the other day, but tomorrow night it's supposed to drop to 39. You sure can't trust spring. I'll be looking forward to see your gardens as the seasons progress.
Gardens are glorious can't wait to start planting, too cold here.
All so beautiful. You're not much (if any) behind us. I'm surprised
We just heard there is a freeze warning here tonight. Not sure where to begin covering up. I always get in too much a hurry to transplant, etc.
I have found that my cheapest plants, tend to do the best! I have found bulbs, roses, etc at local dollar stores and they FLOURISH!!!! So I know that 99 cent rose is going to be spectacular
I enjoy seeing the progress with your flower beds/gardens.
fun to be out and working in the dirt
I agree with the dirt princess....and it might be cold out in the morning there...but it all looks fantastic....like a crisp cool spring day! lovin spring more this year than any other...
