"What's begun?" you ask.
*
Why, the season of ignoring the housework while you lovingly toil in the garden. These rather embarassing pictures are the proof! (And I suspect there are more of you out there with houses that look exactly like mine! Fess up and join the club!)
I took my Easter decorations down a week ago and have been meaning to put them away every evening! And the clean clothes on the sofa have been waiting to be folded since Saturday. But do you see that sunshine on those clean clothes? How can I possibly spend time indoors when I see that!
*
I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday ---- NOT CLEANING! (I'll post later). And Sunday afternoon, Adriana and I headed outside to clean up the brush that'd been left behind from last fall when Brady and I cut down those trees. I could have had Brady make several trips to the local landfill site (and paid for his gas as well as a fee to have them take it off our hands). But instead, I came up with what I think is a much better solution.

I created a "brush fence" along my property line! Not as pretty as a real fence: but the land between mine and the neighbors is wet and boggy; and the brush creates a perfect place for birds to nest. You can get an idea of this fence from the next 2 pictures.

There are lots of ferns that will come up in front of the "fence" to camouflage it. And once that happens and the leaves come out on the trees, I'll be able to see what I'm dealing with for the next addition to my forest garden. (I can't remember what "phase" of the project this will be this year. But I'm certainly not tired of it yet. I think it must be Phase "I-Can't-Wait-to-get-at-It"!!! *
And because every good day's work deserves a treat, Adrianna and I (and her friends Dulci and Jorge) went for the 1st spring ice-cream of the season and then a great hour long walk around Miller Point Peace Park. *
I love gardening! I love "hanging out" with Adrianna! I love spring! And I love ice-cream!

I'm in the Club! The Easter decorations are put away but my desk is piled high with papers, clippings, bills and photos. Let's not even talk about laundry!
I did the exact same thing this weekend - ignored all of the housework and spent every free moment outside. It was wonderful! It's my pattern from now until cold weather returns. I'll try to work in the essential household chores when it's dark outside. Sunlight is too precious to waste. and I love the brush fence - perfect for the birds.
Lovely pictures ! It looks warm where you are. And the kids in shorts and ice cream on a walk....wonderful!!
We are still in the middle of rain and wind and occassional snow flurries...yuk so I am eating up your pictures!
I like your brush fence that is a neat idea. I bet the birds and critters will really love it!
What housework...are we supposed to be doing housework? Pffftttt...
Blessings,
Cindy
Yea enjoy the outside that pesky housework will still be there when you return!
Sandy my dear, what a good 'fence!' Do you have wild berries around your place? We have a creeping member of the blackberry clan, called dewberry, which would climb all over that brush and give green leaves and delicious black berries in summer. Of course, they also spread into surrounding areas and one can be tripped by the thorny canes, but I like them anyway.
I was in my yard raking last month, but winter returned for a time, and I have been inside most of April. My house looks pretty good after a considerable time (years, I think!)when it didn't.
Blessings~
What a cute picture of you!
It looks like it is much too nice to be indoors....I agree!
Lovely property!
Where I live it's eternal spring and summer, so imagine the impact this has on household chores; one wants to be outdoors all the time and enjoy the weather, nature, strolling, meeting people. Indoor chores, reading, watching TV will have to wait.
It is only on rainy days like we have today that you'll find me indoors. I'll get things done inside today and tomorrow I'll be out there cleaning up some more of the flower beds for sure.
Looks like a fun day! I leave the gardening to other people so my house is being purged right now as I am on a big cleaning kick!
First things first, I'd say -- and fun outdoors trumps not-so-much-fun indoors (unless the ceiling is fallin in or someone's sick, or needs something -- all of those occasions that will always come up.) Let's take the sunshine while we can! Thanks for the inspiration! Annie Joy
Hello Sandy...I got a kick out of the pictures. Exactly how it's looking around here. ha! A mountain of Easter bunnies is waiting to be put away with eggs, wall hangings, etc. Ha! (Could somebody else please bring them up to the attic and pack them away?) Thanks for the chuckle. Sincerely, Susan
Too nice to be indoor! You had a special Spring day indeed!Housework can wait!Bye,Anna
What a great outdoor space you have! Who cares about the inside mess - get out there and enjoy!
I'm beyond hope...not doing housewor, nor yardwork!
I just love your forest garden! That's what the husband and I dream of doing one day. Thanks for sharing photos of both your inside and outside home. :-)
Can't wait to see the progression of your garden.
the brush fence is a good idea----isn't that what they call "going green".
and of course it's better to be outside in the sun and fresh air instead of inside cleaning (yuk)
so enjoy!!
fun pictues of the walk
Sorry ya'll, ya know I'm a bit 'touched' when it come to clean and order. I'll get up extra early and get the house neat and tidy before I head out to get my dirt fix. I can't help it....I'm just that kinda chick!!! Your place is lookin' great and that spring ice cream sounds great!
God bless and have a terrific Tuesday!!!
I take turns with the outside housework, and inside housework.. I'm off kilter all the way around
;0)
You'll have to post pictures of the yard when the trees are green and everything is spruced up...it looks like it will be gorgeous.
My house is uncharacteristically clean right now. I don't know WHAT I was thinking!
...and I love your posts. You have the ability to make me have fun without leaving my laptop.
