Thankful Thursday

*
I'm thankful today for the ever increasing approach of spring; for the sunshine and the sprouting of green things and the lengthening of days.

*

I'm thankful for my health; despite my aches and pains, the slowing of my movements and the need for rest in between chores, I have no major problems.

*
And I'm thankful for these things:
Tensor Knee Braces
Elastic support with flexible metal side stabilizers
Open knee prevents slippage and allows free movement of the patella
*
Last fall when I was doing cardio work, my knees started to ache. (I think it's arthritis.) So, I gave up my exercise classes for a few months; and my knees didn't ache anymore! But after a couple of months, my body started to ache and seize up. MY BAD! I need some exercise in my life, bloggies!
*
So, a few weeks ago, I started at the YMCA -- a wonderful yoga class every Sat morning and "Nice 'n Easy" Mon and Wed mornings at 11:30. (This is where my aging process and my vanity collide! I'm still coming to terms with attending the "seniors" cardio class but am taking solice in the fact that I'm the youngest one there! )
*
After one class and achy knees again, I decided to buy one knee brace to try; and Eureka! it helped! So I bought a second.
*
Never did I think the day would come when I'd be thankful that I could spend an hour every other day exposing portions of my pasty white marblized flesh or encasing the remainder in unforgiving spandex so I could bop and sing along with the oldies (thus further admitting my age) all the while sweating like a pig (and thinking about what I'm gonna eat after class) being cheered on by all these OLD people!!!
*
But yes, I'm extremely thankful because I feel so much better now than I did a month ago!

*
And you know, a girl can never have enough ways to feel good about being humiliated and humbled as she loses her looks and her mobility.
*
Yeah baby! Growing old is not for sissies!

Thanks for the tip on the knee brace. I may need to use that one as my right knee often prevents me from doing things. I relate so well to the fact that old age is not for sissies! It is Thankful Thursday and I enjoyed reading what you are thankful for! Have a great day!

I must the only person on earth that knee brace did nothing for. But I think it was just too dang tight...
There are a small group of us ladies at work who have vowed that "when we retire" we are going to join the Y and meet there every week for our super workout...then go pig out at Olive Garden..and maybe stop at Baskin Robbins afterwards. Hmmmm. Maybe we need to rethink that plan.

Good for you! Exercise is good, yoga is great and we all feel better after a good old sweat session to the oldies! So far so good on the knees but oh baby I have other parts startin' to creak!

Have a beautiful day sweet Sandy!!!

You got that right. When I lived in Utah I was only 5 min. from a gym and I would go every day after work for an hour or more.
Now I don't have that ---and I never thought I'd say I MISS WORKING OUT. Doing things at home is just not the same. I need all that equipment.
(and hunky guys walking around for eye candy..tee,hee)
BUT I am so anxious for things to dry up and the weather to warm up so I can hopefully ' WALK MY BUTT OFF'

and p.s. I have two tatoos. (not anywhere that can be seen though)
I am such a rebel

You go! I would need braces for every joint and appendage if I tried that...kinda like torture in armor.

I woke up thinking about knee braces today! Wondered if wearing them while lunging to the exercise dvds would help my creaky knees. And, now I'm here reading your blog for the first time. A nonsequitor, yes, I know. I'm enjoying your blog a lot, being a happily disgracefully aging woman. :-)
