FALL FRUITS - CRANBERRIES

I love cranberries -- I love the combination of tartness with sweetness when you use them in a recipe.
***
(We have berries in Newfoundland called "Partridgeberries" which are somewhat similar to cranberries; makes wonderful jam; and their called "Fox Berries" here in Nova Scotia.)

***
I don't use cranberries enough. But I do make my own cranberry sauce every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas ("avec a leetle bit of horange". C'est manifique!")

***

I really, really like to eat these (and many other chocolate covered dried fruits and nuts -- cherries, blueberries, apricots, strawberries, almonds, hazelnuts, cashews). So healthy and so yummy! Right??
***
These are also one of the things that I hide from my children!
***
"Eat the fresh fruit, you youngsters!! And stay out of my bedroom! "

***
And this is something else that I really love to eat - Cranberry Orange Nut bread. But for some reason, I can never bake what I consider to be an adequate loaf, let alone a good one. Nor can I bake a good Lemon loaf. What's with that??
***
I've tried and tried and periodically re-tried again; but I have finally given up. I'm good (and sometimes great) at so many kitchen things (and some other things). I have decided to leave this task of excellence to another mere mortal!

I'm looking forward to your wonderful cranberry recipes. I think I need to be more adventurous and try something other than cranberry sauce, wadda'ya think?

They make chocolate covered cranberries? Oh, I really have got to get out more! I had English walnuts and cranberries in my oatmeal this morning. Do I walk on the wild side or what? The cranberry loaf look amazing.

Have a great day sweet lady and enjoy your many blessings!!!

Over here in SA we do not know cranberries at all but a Facebook friend and budding photographer uploaded photos to FB last night where he took panoramic photos of a cranberrie harvest. It seems that they get floated down river to the plant where they are then processed. Fascinating.

I am beginning to understand the "Doris the Great" part. You are truly great in a kitchen.
