Pre-Weekend Forecast 5.16.14

WooHoo!
It's a 3 day weekend here in Canada.

Victoria Day is a Canadian stat holiday which is celebrated on the Monday preceding May 25th; it honors Queen Victoria's birthday which was May 24, 1819.  (Please don't tell the Canadian authorities that she's been dead for 195 years!)  And her birthday is why it's affectionately called the "May 24th weekend".  (Or even MORE affectionately called "May two-four Weekend" because it marks the unofficial beginning of the camping or cottage season where cases of beer are consumed by hard working Canadians who have survived winter.)

After the winter we've had, the sunshine we're experiencing here in Nova Scotia today, and the wonderful forecast for Sat and Sun; I say "Bring it on, Victoria!"

I will not be drinking a two-four of beer.  (Sigh!  Those days are long gone .... thank God!)  But I may attend my first yard sale of the season tomorrow morning -- a good 'un that always yields some fun bargains.  I shall sling some dirt (the planting kind and not the gossip kind).  I shall mulch the front beds; I shall sit in my new outdoor recliner with a low-cal sangria and I shall attend this much anticipated event:

I'll also do some cooking for the week.  I've been looking at some wonderful new recipes to try such as a Curry Carrot Lentil Soup, this delicious sounding Chicken Spice Rub and perhaps this Chai Tea Mix.  And I didn't indulge in yesterday's "National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day" .... and as I lost again this week at WW, I may give in to my craving and bake some homemade cookies.  After all, I've got a 16 yr old in my house; so if I bake them by noon, they would most possibly be eaten by 6 pm!

Monday calls for rain.  So if that happens, I'll have a tidied rec room = find the new solar garden lights I bought last fall AND be able to see the last 2 episodes of Parade's End, an excellent series which I high recommend.

TGIF and TTFN.

Hey Shawty, It's Your Birthday!

In the words of that musical genius "50 Cent":

Go, go, go shawty
It's your birthday
We gon' party like it's yo birthday
We gon' sip Bacardi like it's your birthday

Disclaimer:  I will not be sipping Bacardi!  A nice dry red wine perhaps, but demon rum will never pass these ruby-red lips!

I went to my new Wednesday-only job; and my new boss came in with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.  Then later, my good friend Lucy came in with my annual pot of Mums.

When I went home, there was dinner and presents, all prepared and presented by my two beautiful Asian daughters.  Dinner was a sort-of Beebimbob using Spam (very popular in Korea -- and I managed to refrain from jumping up and singing Monty Python's "Spam" song [which I love]).  They both bought the same birthday card for me (at separate times), and the cards were filled with lovely hand-written sentiments.  It was sooo sweet!

There were upteen phone and Facebook messages for me yesterday.  There was promises of treats and packages in the mail from children who couldn't be with me.  And this morning on my desk at my regular 4-day-a-week job there was an envelope with $40 in it and a note from my boss to "treat myself"!  As well, we have a weekend city-day-trip coming up with a visit to a Korean restaurant and my favorite thrift store.  Wow!  What a birthday!

I'm just going to use the excuse that not only do YOU move slower as you age, festivities must be   d-r-a-w-n    o-u-t    so as not to tire us out too much and/or confuse us, right?.

I don't feel any older or wiser ..... and the latter may never come!  But I sure do feel blessed.

Friday Fill-ins - Apr 15.11 .... A Short, Demented Easter Love Affair!

It's time to play Friday Fill-Ins with host, Janet. And today, I want to tell you about someone who's near and dear to my heart. The "season" is right for me to share with you. Here we go!

**********

1. For me, it was love at first sight!

2. When I saw him at my local supermarket, I had to have him! I could feel desire growing in me!

3. I ran home with him. Behind the sound of the wind in the trees, I heard "Don't do it, Sandy! Don't give in to the impulse!"

4. But biting his head off is something I always wanted to do.

5. When it was over, I felt so happy .... guilty .... and a little bloated!

6. But even if our time together was short, with Mr Lindt Bunny in my hands, I never felt alone. He was delicious!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to eating salad; tomorrow my plans include exercise class and Sunday, I want to eat more salad and exercise!

.

Hello Friday! I've missed you. It seems like forever since I've been with you even though I know it's only been 7 days. WOW! I love you Friday!

.

I just want to tell you how much you mean to me and how important you are in my life. Why ... what would I do without you? How would I start the weekend?

.

Without you:

  • I couldn't say "TGIF" to all my peeps!

  • I wouldn't have a valid excuse for saying "Natchos and K-dinner for supper girls!"

  • I'd have no half day of work.

  • I wouldn't feel justified in stopping by my favorite thrift shop on my way home from said half day of work.

  • "Fringe" would be missing from the television lineup ...... and man! I'd be royally pee-oed! (I'd probably have to eat a lot more potato chips and maybe even a full-sized Blizzard!)

  • I wouldn't be able to look forward to a leisurly Saturday morning with the crossword, fresh coffee and tomorrow bacon.

.

Friday ............... You Rock!

.
I'm yelling TGIF. Soooooo glad it's the weekend.
.
And today, I'm joining Janet and friends at Friday Fill-Ins. Here we go!
.
.
.
.
1. Up and off to work until noon; then I meet my gal pals for lunch at The Wildwood Cafe -- my favorite place in town to eat.
.
2. I have 3 sets of books to close! So, these days at work, my head is usually spinning from all those figures going around & around & around in my brain.
.
3. Coats and scarves, mittens and boots: the smart choice for today.
.
4. While cleaning & organizing lately, I came across a misplaced gift certificate for a nice back rub. Lucky me!
.
5. I'm thinking about lunch -- which will include a foamy chai latte and some Mexican food.

6. This Sunday I'll be saying goodbye to my international students. So tonight will be a special family dinner with all their favorite foods: chicken, broccoli, and this ..........
.

.
..
Happy Weekend everyone!

Friday Fill-Ins

Janet at Friday Fill-Ins is hosting #196 today. Here goes:

.
1. One of my strongest beliefs is that my day-to-day relationship with Jesus an absolute necessity.

.

2. Sometimes when I look at photos of myself, I think my nose looks huge!

3. The sky is cloudy with a threat of rain and wind and cold, so hot cocoa, wooly socks, a trashy magazine and the sofa all sound pretty inviting.

.

4. Knowing that God will take care of me is comforting to me. And He loves me just the way I am. (He even knows what I'm going to say in #5 below and He still loves me! He's a pretty great God!)

.

5. I always thought I'd be rich, retired and having more sex at this age!

.

6. I was still awake at 3 AM and remembering our goodnight kiss. So, I put on my robe, made some tea, and then I went outside to look at the full moon. (This memory is entirely fictional [refer to #5] and spoken aloud with hope and optimism!)

.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to doing nothing, tomorrow my plans include enjoying having nothing planned and Sunday, I want to rest after doing nothing all weekend --- well, except what I desired to do!
.

.

.
Go ahead -- do the Friday Fill-In yourself. And remember to pop over at
Friday Fill-Ins and see what others had to share.

And as my friend Nezzy would say, "Happy Friday y'all!"
